Karen & Doug’s wedding at Highclere Castle

Karen & Doug’s wedding took us to Highclere castle. They had exclusive use of this stunning Victorian castle set amidst 1,000 acres of parkland. An amazing venue which although very grand, still has a homely and welcoming feel. Not only is it a fantastic wedding venue, it is also home for the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon and hosted ITV’s new costume drama ‘Downton Abbey’.

Below is a taster from the day, from preparations through to their dramatic and theatrical first dance!

The Saloon, at the heart of the castle is where the ceremony and evening entertainment took place. A magnificent centre stage for Karen & Doug’s ceremony.

Eagerly awaiting, Doug had to wait for Karen to walk round the gallery and down the staircase before he could see her in her full glory.

At the end of the ceremony Karen & Doug took part in the tradition of a 30 second kiss, counted down by their guests and finishing with a huge applause!

Being a triathlete Doug was up for a gentle jog!

A stunning sunny evening lit up the balcony and was an opportunity not to miss.

The wedding breakfast took place in the library filled with flowers and was a gorgeous setting for the meal and speeches

Karen’s brothers gave her away and made the speech together, Karen was given an easy time compared to what Doug’s best men had in store for him!….old family photographs and a ‘Fame’ reminiscent film of Doug from his dancing days which had us all in stitches, no pics of that for the blog as I didn’t want to embarrass further! Loved the leg warmers Doug!

So to the first dance wich they had been planning for months, a grand and theatrical entrance by Karen followed by a masterpiece of moves and lifts and a little guest participation with some showbiz feather fans, a fab start to their evening entertainment.

Earlier this month we met up with the Hartley family for their third family shoot, this time at the gardens of the rose in St.Albans. This was a great location for the kids to explore and made for a colourful backdrop. Here are just a few from the shoot.

Kate & Wayne’s Wedding at Offley Place

Last Saturday we spent the day capturing the fun, nerves, laughter and love of Kate and Wayne’s wedding. With this August being drenched with rain, someone was looking down on them and turned the rain tap off shortly after arriving at the venue.

Their ceremony took place at St. Nicolas church in Harpenden and reception at the gorgeous Offley Place near Hitchin. This 17th century country house hotel is a beautiful venue for a wedding with a walled garden and 27 acres of parkland surrounding it.

Kates Mum had made all the stationary, the place settings were cute little sailing boats tying in with the blue colour scheme and tables themed with all the wonderful places they have been together. Frangipani shaped candles were the ladies favours, unique and personal as Kate and Wayne were given garlands of this flower at their engagement and the scent remindes them of their time in Bandos, Maldives.

A truly wonderful day made special with all the personal touches and warmth of close friends and family. Enjoy the sneak preview below.

Emma & Tim’s Wedding Hunton Park

Emma & Tim’s wedding was at their local church in Kings Langley then on to Hunton Park for their wedding reception. We really enjoyed photographing such a fun and super loved up couple! Emma chose flat hot pink shoes rather than ivory ones matching the bridesmaids dresses and her vibrant personality.

Despite the pouring rain before the ceremony they had a fantstic day and by the time we reached the venue we were able to enjoy the grounds.

one of Emma’s ex school pupils sang in the church, she was simply stunning and gave us all goose bumps!

Kerrhys & Paul’s Wedding Woburn Sculpture gallery

On the 6th August we photographed Kerrhys and Pauls wedding, it was a grand affair complete with horse and carriage taking Kerrhys and her Dad to the church in the village of Norton in Letchworth.

After a lovely service we made a hasty journey to the stunning Sculpture gallery for the wedding reception. Luckily we only had a shower of rain and were able to take the group and couple shots outside this amazing venue.

Guests were greeted by the relaxing sound of a string quartet before being served a sumptuous wedding breakfast.

Nathalie & Pete’s Prewed Shoot Fanhams Hall

Not just clients

Being self-employed is incredibly hard work but I wouldn’t change it for the world!

We are blessed that every day we do something we are passionate about and that is more rewarding than I could have ever imagined.

We have just completed four weddings in two weeks and although are now pretty exhausted, are proud of what we have achieved for four wonderful and very different couples.

It’s a real honour to be entrusted by a couple to be responsible for capturing the most important day in their life, and although it sounds corny, I really mean it.

The journey we take with our couples is special and unique. It’s this journey that makes our job so rewarding and turns clients into real people, with their own story to tell, a story that we tell through our images; from the pre wedding shoot to the wedding day and beyond.
