Personal

Our little pickle is 1 today!

The 27th February 2012, our precious Amy Rose was born at 11.35am.  Due on the 29th and a leap year, we were delighted that she was early so she didn’t miss out on any birthdays! She was born at Luton and Dunstable hospital after a planned home birth didn’t go quite to plan but hey, she arrived safe and well and that’s all that mattered.  Home birth, are you mad I hear you say!  Maybe, but I would choose it again. As we didn’t blog any photos when she was born, we have a few to share now!  Here is a tiny snippet from our wonderful first year as parents.  Thank you to those of you who have shared in our excitement and

Lauren & Paul’s Wedding at Ashridge

On Saturday we had the pleasure in photographing Lauren & Paul’s dream wedding.  Their ceremony was at the most gorgeous little church in Little Gadessden followed by a fantastic reception at Ashridge .  A country house with 700 years of history, now a world class business school.   The house is set within 190 acres of gardens and parkland and is host to a select number of weddings a year.  It really was a perfect venue for their grand wedding. Lauren & paul had thought of everything and managed to fit so many exciting elements into their day including Paul arriving by helecopter, Lauren arriving by horse and carriage, a gospel choir who sung during the ceremony and a Michael Jackson impersonator to

Not just clients

Being self-employed is incredibly hard work but I wouldn’t change it for the world! We are blessed that every day we do something we are passionate about and that is more rewarding than I could have ever imagined. We have just completed four weddings in two weeks and although are now pretty exhausted, are proud of what we have achieved for four wonderful and very different couples. It’s a real honour to be entrusted by a couple to be responsible for capturing the most important day in their life, and although it sounds corny, I really mean it. The journey we take with our couples is special and unique. It’s this journey that makes our job so rewarding and turns clients into real

Laura & David’s Wedding Hampton Court Palace

Last weekend was our first wedding at the stunning Hampton Court Palace. Laura & David tied the knot in the beautiful Garden Rooms with it’s own private terrace and garden within Hampton Court gardens. They both got ready at hotels next to Hampton Court and walked across to the venue before being wisked off to meet the registrars in the golf buggy! The day was perfect, after showers in the morning, the sun shone and stayed with us for the rest of the day. All the details tied together beautifully for a stunning overall look, from the jelly beans in jars as favours to the spectacular floral table centres and funky cake. With a venue with so many photographic opportunities we were bursting

Hurst Lighthouse

A couple of weekends ago Emma and I celebrated our 6 years of marriage together by going away.  We went to the lovely sea side town of Milford on Sea. On our arrival we saw from our bedroom window a lighthouse. The following day we took the little boat ride over to Hurst Castle where the lighthouse is. The cloud formation in the sky was amazing. The results below. All shot on the EOS 5D MKII 50mm lens.

Digital Pinhole

I have been really curious to experiment with making a pinhole image using my digital SLR, so the other day I gave it a go. I had made one with film during my studies of photography and liked the idea of capturing an image without a lens!  The principal of light is the same so I set about making the pinhole with my digital camera.  I love the dreamy, hazy look and seeing instant results.  The circumference of the hole is not a perfect circle as it is greatly exagerated when the light passes through the hole on to the camera  sensor illustrating the irregular hole opening made by the drill bit,  which I kind of like.  Anyway here are my first attempts
