Our Approach

Emphasis is on capturing beautiful, natural images of you and your family, new born or bump. Photo sessions are relaxed and informal so please don’t worry about having your photographs taken.

This is about getting the right surroundings for you and your family. You choose the venue and we’ll take the photographs! It might be at home or in your garden, at a park of in the woods climbing a favourite tree! We want your shoot to be as enjoyable as it can be so that we capture the images that you want and will be delighted with. During a shoot of approximately 90minutes we would aim to photograph the children individually and in whichever combination you choose. That way you have the photographs that you really want for your home.

Clothing

We suggest you choose clothes that you are most comfortable in, and that reflect your lifestyle. Feel free to bring a change of clothes for children if you wish. We suggest avoiding stripes and any large text print as this can be distracting.

Babies and toddlers

Make sure that your shoot time is planned for a time of day to suit your child. We are more than happy to break for feeding and changing whenever it may be needed. We do not stick to rigid session times and can be flexible around your family’s needs.

Toys

If your child has a favourite toy, you may like to include this in the pictures. As we are intending to capture their childhood, their favourite toy will have a lot of sentimental value in the future – no matter how grubby and chewed it may seem now! Any toys or props you think will help our child to relax and have fun then feel free to bring along.

Viewing your images

You will be able to see your photographs approximately two weeks after the shoot. The pictures will be presented in the form of a digital slide show to music at our studio near Harpenden. During the viewing you will be able to choose from a selection of quality handmade frames, canvases, and other exciting display options. An online preview gallery can be emailed to you prior to your viewing if you wish.

The viewing experience was exceptionally organised, fun and helpful. We would have floundered around for a long time if we had just been left to review them!

    Cake Smash photo shoot
    September 6, 2018 by
Cake smash photo shoots have become increasingly popular.  Having started in the US, the tradition has come across the water and many photographers are now offering these as a new way of celebrating a child’s first birthday. It was one of our wedding couples who introduced us to the concept as they wanted us to photograph their son’s first birthday.  How could we refuse! We provided the location, backdrop, flooring and professional images (oh, and the cleaning up of course!) and they provided the rest!  The photo shoot starts with a few shots of the birthday boy or girl.  And of course some of the cake untouched and any family photos requested. The birthday cake is then introduced and we capture what happens...
