Fanhams Hall in Ware, Hertfordshire is one of our favourite wedding venues to photograph at — and one that holds a very special place in our hearts, as we celebrated our own wedding reception here.
Whatever the weather, Fanhams Hall offers an abundance of beautiful photographic opportunities, both indoors and across its extensive grounds. The venue provides a wonderful choice of settings for your ceremony, reception, and couple portraits, allowing your wedding photography to feel varied, relaxed, and natural.
Ceremony & Reception Spaces
There are two main indoor ceremony spaces at Fanhams Hall, each offering a very different atmosphere:
The Great Hall is the historic heart of the venue and perfect for couples looking for a more traditional setting. With its floor-to-ceiling windows, elegant wood-panelled walls, and striking fireplace, it creates a timeless and romantic backdrop for your ceremony.
For a more contemporary feel, The Pavilion offers a bright, modern space with stunning lakeside views. Flooded with natural light, it’s ideal for couples who want a clean, modern aesthetic and the flexibility to add their own personal styling and theming.
Outdoor ceremonies are also possible, with licensed locations including the Japanese Tea House and the lawns outside the Great Hall — both beautiful settings for a summer wedding.
For more intimate weddings the Oak room offers the same Jacobean charm on a smaller scale. With access onto the patio, lawn and wider grounds, this is a great choice for your micro wedding.
Grounds & Photography Locations
Guests can spill out onto the lawns following the ceremony, where the impressive grounds provide endless photographic inspiration. Highlights include the Japanese Tea House, formal sunken gardens with a water fountain, winding walkways, and lakeside views — all of which create stunning backdrops for couple portraits, group photos, and relaxed candid moments.
Wedding Breakfast & Dining
For civil ceremonies held at the venue, couples can use the Great Hall before it’s transformed for the Wedding Breakfast, or opt for the Long Gallery as an alternative indoor space. The venue is known for its excellent service and a high-quality menu, ensuring your wedding day runs smoothly from start to finish.
