Jenni and Nick couldn’t have asked for a better wedding day at the beautiful South Farm. Their wedding ceremony took place outside in stunning Autumn sun.

‘Distinctly different’ is South Farm’s strap line and it certainly is.  With picturesque grounds, exclusive use, outstanding food, and friendly staff, it really is a great choice of wedding venue. For us as wedding photographers, it was a dream.

We are delighted that Jenni & Nick’s wedding will be featuring in the next issue of Your Herts and Beds Wedding magazine!

Why did you choose this ceremony venue?

So many reasons! But to narrow it down, the setting and the food- we wanted something different and rural (not just the inside of a hotel that could be anywhere in the country). We loved that it was in the countryside, so peaceful and beautiful. We are both really foodie so fell in love with the venue because they grow all their own fruit/veg on site. Nick is a vegetarian so finding a venue that would have fab food for both of us was important (rather than the veggie food being an afterthought). We loved the grounds, with beautiful seasonal flowers all year round and a wonderful kitchen garden, plus small holdings with rare breed animals (and piglets!).

On the day we had Alli as our wedding coordinator and she was amazing, checking in with us every so often to see if we were OK or needed anything and keeping everything running smoothly!

Who did your hair and make-up?

Vicky Brown hair & Makeup. Vicky is great- she put us all at ease on the Wedding morning and I felt I could be honest with her to find the perfect make up and hair style during the trial.

How did you choose your photographer? Would you recommend them? Please explain.

We went to several wedding fairs and met photographers this way, plus we researched online. We met Ian & Emma at Hatfield House Wedding Fair and warmed to them immediately. Jenni had always ideally wanted two photographers, so that they capture more of the day. Once we’d met with them and seen examples of their photography we were confident to book! We would wholeheartedly recommend. The photos are perfect. From the beginning the photos were an important part that we wanted to get right- being the lasting thing from the day! They did an amazing job.

Did you lay on any daytime entertainment for your guests?

Not as such but we had a few points of interest- a timeline board of our relationship that we had made, a fingerprint tree guestbook and best of all a live painting of the day which was a total surprise planned by Nick. I only noticed when we were signing the register, that there was someone painting by the house! It was such a great idea, she stayed all day working on the painting so guests could have a look throughout the day as it developed. Everyone really enjoyed it and commented on how original it was. Guests enjoyed talking to her whilst she painted. Stephanie Struth (Stephanie Paints Things) had only recently started doing it and is one of the few people in the UK who does it. It’s the best keepsake from the day!
